Bank sync in Singapore can mean very different things. A third-party budgeting app may pull individual transactions from DBS, OCBC, UOB or Citi, while an SGFinDex-enabled bank dashboard may show balances and holdings from several institutions without providing a live multi-bank transaction feed. The distinction matters if the goal is day-to-day budgeting rather than a periodic view of net worth.

What Bank Sync Means in Singapore
There is no single type of bank connection used by every budgeting service. The most useful way to compare apps is to identify what data they retrieve and how fresh that data is.
Direct Transaction Sync
Transactions and balances
A supported bank connection imports account activity into a third-party app. Depending on the provider, the feed may include balances, posted transactions, pending transactions and recurring charges.
Native Bank Tracking
Transactions already held by your bank
Apps such as OCBC Digital and UOB TMRW can analyse transactions within their own banking relationship without relying on a separate budgeting provider.
SGFinDex Consolidation
Multi-institution financial snapshot
SGFinDex can consolidate data from participating banks, insurers, SGX CDP and government sources through Singpass-authorised retrieval. It is designed primarily for financial planning rather than live transaction-by-transaction budgeting.
Statement Import
PDF or other supported statements
A budgeting service can extract transactions from an uploaded bank or credit-card statement. This works without a persistent bank connection but only reflects information contained in the imported statement.
Singapore Bank Sync and Budgeting Options Compared
The services below do not perform the same job. MySprout and Dobin focus on transaction aggregation, while the bank-owned apps combine native account information with their own money-management or financial-planning features.
| App / Service | Connection | Verified Coverage | Transaction Data | Budgeting Role | Access | Verification |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MySprout | Direct bank sync plus statement import | DBS, OCBC, UOB and Citibank Singapore for direct sync | Yes. MySprout describes automatic balance and transaction refresh as real-time. | Expense tracking, categories, recurring bills, spending analysis and net-worth tracking | Core features are free; Pro unlocks bank sync. Current Singapore App Store listing is for iPhone. | MySprout |
| Dobin | Supported bank and card connections plus PDF statement import | Coverage varies by institution. Public FAQs confirm POSB through DBS and pending transaction support for DBS, UOB, OCBC, Citi and Standard Chartered. | Yes, but Dobin states that connected data is not real-time and accounts can be refreshed. | Expense, cash-flow, transaction and credit-card tracking rather than a traditional category-budget system | Current Singapore App Store listing is free. | Dobin FAQ |
| OCBC Digital | Native OCBC transaction tracking; SGFinDex through Financial OneView | OCBC transactions for budgeting; participating institutions through SGFinDex for consolidated balances | Native OCBC spending is automatically recorded and categorised. SGFinDex data follows a different update cycle. | Monthly budget, category budgets, spending categories, budget reset date and spending alerts | Available within OCBC Digital for eligible users | OCBC Money Management |
| UOB TMRW | Native UOB insights; SGFinDex One View for consolidated financial data | UOB transactions for native analysis; seven participating banks through SGFinDex | Purchase and cash-flow analysis for UOB activity. SGFinDex should not be treated as a live external transaction feed. | Spending-category analysis, cash-flow analysis, payment reminders, subscription alerts and spending insights | Available through UOB TMRW for eligible UOB users | UOB TMRW Features |
| DBS digibank / digiWealth | Native DBS/POSB data plus SGFinDex financial consolidation | DBS/POSB plus participating banks, insurers, SGX CDP, CPF, HDB and IRAS through SGFinDex | External SGFinDex information is based mainly on previous month-end or statement balances rather than a live external transaction feed. | Net-worth monitoring and financial planning rather than multi-bank daily expense budgeting | Available within DBS digital banking for eligible users | DBS SGFinDex |

Bank support can change. A bank appearing in an app today does not guarantee that every savings account, current account, credit card, joint account or authentication flow from that institution is supported. Confirm the specific account connection inside the app before paying for a subscription.
Direct Transaction Sync vs SGFinDex
SGFinDex is often described using the word “sync”, but its data model is different from the transaction feed expected from a budgeting app.
| Feature | Direct Transaction Connection | SGFinDex |
|---|---|---|
| Individual purchases and payments | Usually available when supported by the app and bank | Not designed as a live multi-bank purchase feed |
| Bank-data freshness | Depends on provider, bank authentication and refresh method | Bank and SGX data generally uses month-end or statement balances |
| Multi-bank coverage | Limited to banks supported by that app | Citi, DBS/POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB participate as bank data contributors |
| CPF, HDB and IRAS data | Normally outside a budgeting feed | Available through Myinfo retrieval |
| Primary use | Daily spending, categorisation and account aggregation | Consolidated financial position and planning |
SGFinDex bank balances are not live balances. The official SGFinDex information states that bank and SGX CDP month-end or statement balances are generally updated one working day after the close of the month. CPF and HDB information retrieved through Myinfo follows the information available from those government sources, while IRAS provides the latest available Notice of Assessment.
This makes SGFinDex useful for viewing assets and liabilities across institutions, but less suitable for answering a question such as “How much did I spend on dining across three cards this week?” A transaction-level aggregator is better matched to that task.
MySprout for Direct Singapore Bank Sync
MySprout is one of the clearest current examples of a Singapore-focused expense tracker advertising direct bank connectivity. Its published support list names DBS, OCBC, UOB and Citibank Singapore.
The service states that bank-connected balances and transactions refresh automatically. It also identifies recurring bills and subscriptions, categorises transactions and combines multiple wallets into a net-worth view. Unsupported banks can be handled through statement upload rather than a permanent bank connection.
MySprout describes its bank access as read-only, meaning the budgeting service can retrieve financial information but cannot initiate a payment, transfer or withdrawal. Its current Singapore App Store listing is marked as designed for iPhone, which matters for users choosing an app by device platform.
Direct support for four named banks should not be interpreted as support for every product those banks issue. Credit cards, multi-currency accounts, joint accounts or newly introduced products may behave differently from standard deposit accounts.
Dobin for Bank and Credit-Card Tracking
Dobin is a Singapore-based finance app built around connected accounts, spending analysis and credit-card management. Its public bank-connection FAQ makes one limitation especially clear: data is not real-time. Users can refresh connected accounts to retrieve newer transactions.
The app also supports PDF statement import. This provides an alternative for users who do not want to maintain a bank connection or whose institution is not available for direct connection. Dobin specifically documents statement-based connection for Trust Bank accounts.
Pending Transaction Coverage
Dobin states that pending transactions can currently be viewed for DBS, UOB, OCBC, Citibank and Standard Chartered. Posted transaction history can extend beyond three months, although the amount of historical information retrieved varies by bank.
Credential Storage and Regulatory Status
If the optional saved-credentials feature is enabled, Dobin says the credentials are stored in the device password manager, such as Apple Keychain or Android Keystore, rather than on Dobin’s backend server. Its FAQ also states that Dobin is not currently regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
A read-only connection and MAS regulatory status describe different things. “Read-only” refers to what the connection can do with a bank account; it should not be interpreted as a statement that the budgeting provider is a regulated bank or financial institution.
Budgeting Inside Singapore Bank Apps
A separate third-party app may be unnecessary when most day-to-day spending stays within one banking relationship. Singapore’s major bank apps now provide different levels of transaction analysis and financial planning.
OCBC Digital: Category Budgets and Spending Tracking
OCBC Digital provides a more traditional budgeting workflow than many bank apps. Money In$ights automatically records spending and categorises transactions into areas such as transport, food and drinks, entertainment and shopping.
Users can create a monthly overall budget, add limits for individual categories and align the start of the budget cycle with payday. OCBC also provides notifications when spending approaches or reaches the selected limit. These features make the native app particularly relevant when most expenses already pass through an OCBC banking relationship.
OCBC Financial OneView is a separate layer. It uses SGFinDex to consolidate financial information from participating banks, insurers, SGX CDP, CPF, HDB and IRAS. The external balances shown there should not be confused with the transaction-level budgeting data generated from OCBC activity.
UOB TMRW: Purchase and Cash-Flow Analysis
UOB TMRW provides purchase analysis, cash-flow analysis, payment reminders, subscription alerts and transaction-related insights. Purchase Analysis groups spending into categories such as dining, travel and shopping, while Cash Flow Analysis shows how money moves through the user’s UOB accounts.
This is most useful when a large share of spending occurs through a UOB account or card. SGFinDex One View can then add a consolidated view of assets and liabilities held with other participating institutions, but that external information follows SGFinDex data timing rather than UOB’s native transaction feed.
DBS digiWealth: Multi-Institution Financial Position
DBS digiWealth uses SGFinDex to combine financial information from banks, SGX CDP, CPF, HDB, IRAS and participating insurers. The retrieved data can include deposit balances, credit-card and loan balances, SRS and CPFIS holdings, investments and insurance information.
For external financial institutions, DBS states that bank information is based on the previous month-end or previous monthly statement balance where applicable. The user initiates retrieval with the sync function. External accounts can be viewed for planning purposes but cannot be managed or transacted through digiWealth.
This makes the feature more suitable for someone who wants a consolidated asset-and-liability view alongside a DBS or POSB account than for someone who needs a multi-bank feed of today’s purchases.
Singapore Bank Compatibility Matrix
This matrix separates publicly verified direct connections from SGFinDex participation and statement-based alternatives. “Not publicly verified” means the current public material reviewed does not provide enough information to label the connection as supported.
| Bank | MySprout | Dobin | SGFinDex | Native Tracking | Statement Alternative |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DBS / POSB | Direct sync listed | Connected-account support; POSB connects through DBS | Yes | DBS digital banking / digiWealth | Available through compatible import tools |
| OCBC | Direct sync listed | Connected transaction support evidenced by public FAQ | Yes | Money In$ights and budgeting in OCBC Digital | Available through compatible import tools |
| UOB | Direct sync listed | Connected transaction support evidenced by public FAQ | Yes | Purchase and Cash Flow Analysis in UOB TMRW | Available through compatible import tools |
| Citibank Singapore | Direct sync listed | Connected transaction support evidenced by public FAQ | Yes | Not evaluated here | Available through compatible import tools |
| Standard Chartered | Direct sync not listed | Pending transaction support is publicly listed | Yes | Not evaluated here | Check statement format with the selected app |
| HSBC Singapore | Direct sync not listed | Not publicly verified in the reviewed connection material | Yes | Not evaluated here | Check statement format with the selected app |
| Maybank Singapore | Direct sync not listed | Not publicly verified in the reviewed connection material | Yes | Not evaluated here | Check statement format with the selected app |
| Trust Bank | Direct sync not listed | PDF statement import specifically documented | Not listed as a participating bank | Use Trust’s own banking app for native account activity | Yes, documented by Dobin |
| CIMB Singapore | Direct sync not listed | Not publicly verified in the reviewed connection material | Not listed as a participating bank | Not evaluated here | Check statement format with the selected app |

Users comparing less common account types can also check the bank itself before assuming a third-party connection covers every product. The same principle applies to foreign-currency balances and cards used alongside multi-currency bank accounts.
How Fresh Is Synced Financial Data?
The word “sync” does not tell the user how recently the underlying account information was updated. The practical order is better understood by looking at the retrieval method.
1. Direct Transaction Feed
Potentially the freshest option. MySprout describes its supported bank connections as automatically refreshed and real-time, although connection status and bank authentication can still affect availability.
2. Native Bank Data
A bank app works directly with activity already held by that bank. This can provide more immediate spending information for the user’s own accounts and cards than an external financial-planning snapshot.
3. Refresh-Based Aggregation
Dobin states that data is not real-time. Users can refresh linked accounts to retrieve newer transactions, and authentication may be required during reconnection or refresh.
4. SGFinDex Bank Data
Bank and SGX CDP information generally reflects month-end or statement balances. A user may perform a fresh SGFinDex retrieval today without receiving today’s bank balance or today’s individual purchases.
5. Statement Import
The app only knows what is contained in the imported statement. A May statement imported in June remains May data until another statement or transaction source is added.
Why a Connected Account May Stop Updating
Authentication Needs Renewal
A bank may require fresh credentials, an app approval or two-factor authentication before new data can be retrieved.
The Bank Connection Changes
Bank login flows, security requirements and supported account types can change. A previously working connection may require reconnection.
Refresh Is Not Automatic
Some connections retrieve new data only when the user refreshes the account. This is different from an automatic background feed.
Pending Transactions Differ
An app may support posted transactions without supporting pending card transactions for every bank.
The Account Type Is Not Covered
Support for a bank does not automatically establish support for every joint account, card, investment account or specialised deposit product.
SGFinDex Uses a Different Data Cycle
A balance may look old even after a successful retrieval because the bank data available through SGFinDex is based on the previous month-end or statement cycle.
Accredited Investor exception: SGFinDex terms exclude certain data where a customer is recorded by a participating institution as an Accredited Investor. DBS also states that data held with a bank where the customer is identified as an Accredited Investor cannot be retrieved through SGFinDex.
Seedly Is No Longer a Bank-Sync Budgeting App
Older Singapore budgeting-app comparisons often include Seedly. That recommendation is no longer current. The Seedly app was discontinued on 31 December 2025.
Seedly stated that expense-tracking data would be permanently deleted from its servers after 31 March 2026. Seedly’s web community and other content can continue separately, but the discontinued app should not be presented as an active 2026 bank-sync option.
What to Check Before Connecting a Bank Account
Security comparisons should start with the connection method rather than a broad claim that one type of app is automatically safe or unsafe.
SGFinDex Consent Model
- Data retrieval requires user consent.
- Authentication and authorisation are supported by Singpass.
- SGFinDex states that financial data passing through the service is encrypted.
- SGFinDex itself does not store or have access to the user’s financial information.
- Only the authorised financial-planning application can receive the retrieved data.
Third-Party Budgeting Connections
- Check whether access is read-only.
- Check how credentials are handled if the connection requires them.
- Check whether data can be exported and deleted.
- Check what happens when a bank connection expires.
- Do not assume that a read-only app is a MAS-regulated financial institution.
SGFinDex Consent and Historical Data
SGFinDex consent can be revoked, but revocation stops future retrieval rather than automatically erasing every copy of information previously retrieved by an authorised financial institution. The official SGFinDex FAQ states that previously retrieved data may remain in the receiving institution’s systems because financial institutions have data-retention requirements.
OCBC also states that SGFinDex data-sharing consent normally lasts one year and can be extended for another year when the user retrieves data, where the participating institution supports the extension.
Check How the App Handles Transfers and Credit-Card Payments
Transaction aggregation can create misleading spending totals if transfers are classified as income or expenses instead of movements between the user’s own accounts.
Example: Moving S$1,500 from DBS to OCBC is not S$1,500 of spending and S$1,500 of new income. A budgeting system should ideally identify it as an internal transfer.
The same issue can occur with credit cards. A S$300 card purchase is an expense. Paying the S$300 credit-card bill from a bank account should normally settle the liability rather than create a second S$300 expense in the budget.
Before relying on monthly spending totals, check how the selected app handles:
- transfers between your own accounts;
- credit-card bill payments;
- refunds and reversals;
- cash withdrawals;
- foreign-currency transactions;
- duplicate imported transactions;
- recurring transfers that are not actual expenses.
Which Setup Fits Different Singapore Banking Patterns?
Several Banks, Daily Spending
A transaction-level aggregator is the closer fit. MySprout currently lists direct sync for DBS, OCBC, UOB and Citibank Singapore. Dobin can also aggregate supported connected accounts, but its data requires refresh and is not described as real-time.
Most Spending Is With OCBC
OCBC Digital may cover the core budgeting need without a separate app because it supports category budgets, an overall monthly budget, automatic spending categorisation and spending alerts.
Most Spending Is With UOB
UOB TMRW provides purchase and cash-flow analysis for UOB activity, with reminders and spending-related alerts. SGFinDex One View can be used separately for a broader financial snapshot.
Banks, CPF, HDB and Investments Together
An SGFinDex-enabled financial-planning dashboard is better aligned with this need because it can combine bank balances with CPF, HDB, IRAS, SGX CDP and participating insurance data.
No Persistent Bank Connection
Statement import is the cleaner fit for users who prefer not to maintain a linked account. MySprout and Dobin both provide statement-based alternatives.
Several Credit Cards
Look for transaction categorisation, pending-transaction support, statement-period tracking and correct treatment of card repayments. Dobin places particular emphasis on credit-card and transaction management.
What to Check Before Paying for Bank Sync
- Confirm the exact bank. A global claim such as “thousands of supported banks” does not establish current support for DBS, OCBC, UOB or a specific Singapore account.
- Confirm the account type. Savings accounts, current accounts and credit cards may have different connection coverage.
- Check transaction freshness. Determine whether updates are automatic, manually refreshed or statement-based.
- Check pending transactions. A posted-transaction feed may still omit purchases that have not settled.
- Check historical coverage. The number of months retrieved can vary by bank and connection method.
- Check reconnection requirements. Bank authentication or two-factor approval may need to be repeated.
- Check transfer classification. Own-account transfers and card repayments should not inflate spending totals.
- Check export and deletion controls. Know how to retrieve your transaction history and what happens to stored data if the account is closed.
- Check the fallback method. PDF or statement import can be useful when a direct connection stops working.
Budgeting App and Singapore Bank Sync FAQ
Can one app sync DBS, OCBC and UOB?
Yes. MySprout currently lists direct bank sync for DBS, OCBC and UOB, as well as Citibank Singapore. Dobin also supports connected financial institutions, although its public FAQ states that data is not real-time and should be refreshed.
Does SGFinDex show today’s bank transactions?
SGFinDex should not be treated as a live multi-bank transaction feed. Bank and SGX information generally reflects previous month-end or statement balances. It is designed for consolidated financial planning.
Can I budget without connecting my internet banking account?
Yes. Apps that support PDF statement import can analyse transactions without maintaining a direct bank connection. The trade-off is that new transactions will not appear until another statement is imported.
Is Seedly still available for bank-sync expense tracking?
No. The Seedly app was discontinued on 31 December 2025, and Seedly stated that expense-tracking data would be deleted after 31 March 2026.
Is Dobin regulated by MAS?
Dobin’s own security FAQ states that it is not currently regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The same FAQ describes its connected financial-data access as view-only.
Can SGFinDex move money between my banks?
No. SGFinDex is a financial-data exchange used to retrieve authorised financial information for participating applications. DBS also states that accounts from other financial institutions shown through digiWealth are view-only and cannot be transacted through that feature.
Verification Notes
SGFinDex participation, update timing, consent and privacy details were checked against the official SGFinDex website.
Direct MySprout support for DBS, OCBC, UOB and Citibank Singapore, statement import, read-only access and the Pro bank-sync requirement were checked against MySprout’s published product information.
